This presentation will discuss important foundational information for understanding suicidal behavior, including suicide, suicidal self-injury, and non-suicidal self-injury. We will discuss common motivators for suicidal behavior, how to better understand what puts someone at higher risk for suicidal behavior, and the functions of suicidal behavior. We will also discuss how to use this information to foster greater empathy and understanding for our clients, and how to better assess and interact with client risk.
