The Marathon County Historical Society is proud to welcome Veronica Hinke as our guest speaker for its History Speaks series at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the Woodson History Center (410 McIndoe Street, Wausau). Celebrate the 100th anniversary of The Great Gatsby (April 10, 1925), by stepping into the culinary world of the roaring 20s. With the Jazz Age as a backdrop author Veronica Hinke will take us through the dishes and drinks that graced the tables of Jay Gatsby’s lavish parties. Explore the flavors of a bygone era while studying the world of flappers, speakeasies, and extravagant soirées. Veronica Hinke is a culinary and lifestyles journalist and instructor specializing in early late 19th Century and early 20th Century drinking, dining and entertainment. She is author of The Last Night on The Titanic: Unsinkable Drinking, Dining & Style; Titanic: The Official Cookbook and Harry Potter Afternoon Tea Magic. This event is free and open to the public—no RSVP required—and is presented in partnership with the Marathon County Public Library and sponsored by Janke Bookstore.
