Habitat for Humanity Wausau Revitalizes Downtown Neighborhood
Wausau, WI — Habitat for Humanity of Wausau is proud to announce the launch of its second annual Rock the Block initiative, a week-long neighborhood revitalization effort taking place Monday, July 14 through Saturday, July 19, 2025. This year’s focus is on Wausau’s downtown area east of 7th Street, where eight home repair and beautification projects are scheduled to benefit homeowners living below the area’s median income.
Rock the Block brings together community members, churches, youth groups, and corporate partners to serve residents through small exterior repairs, landscaping, and safety-focused upgrades—at no cost to the homeowners. More than 110 volunteers are expected to fill 170 volunteer shifts throughout the week.
“Rock the Block is about more than home repairs—it’s about restoring pride, connection, and hope in our neighborhoods,” said Tiffany Arnold, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Wausau. “We are honored to come alongside these families and invest in the health and beauty of our downtown.”
Volunteer teams will assist with landscaping, yard cleanup, safe entryway construction, weatherization, siding repairs, and general exterior maintenance. Many of the homeowners served are seniors or families who lack the resources or ability to make these repairs themselves.
The initiative is part of Habitat Wausau’s growing portfolio of programs aimed at improving affordable housing options in Marathon County. Alongside its traditional homeownership and trades education programs, Habitat has expanded to include Critical Home Repairs, Ramp Up Marathon County, and now Rock the Block, all of which focus on helping residents remain safely and affordably in their homes.
