UW-Stevens Point Olson Museum of Natural History to open gift shop
From nature related gifts and toys to apparel, stationery, rocks and jewelry, discover something new at the gift shop at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point Olson Museum of Natural History starting next month.
Opening to the public starting Tuesday, Dec. 2, the gift shop is located in the southeast corner of the first floor of the Science Building, 2001 Fourth Ave., Stevens Point, and is the first area available to the public in the new location. The former museum location in Albertson Hall closed in 2022.
The museum gift shop will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Hours are expected to expand later in the academic year.
Customers can pay with cash or debit/credit cards. Items are priced low, and all funds raised in the gift shop will support museum exhibits and future programming.
Staff request that groups of larger than 10 register for their visit ahead of time. There is a sign-up form online at www.uwsp.edu/cols/college-of-letters-and-science/museum/gift-shop/.
The Olson Museum of Natural History is also offering Junior Scientist programs led by UWSP students. Held at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings for ages 7-12 in a classroom adjacent to the museum, this semester’s last program is “Wisconsin Cave Wonders” on Dec. 4.
Please note that the Discovery Room is open with hands-on activities for all ages. The rock and fossil exhibit is also open for viewing, but displays are still being developed. For more information about the museum, call 715-346-2858 or email museum@uwsp.edu.
