WAUSAU, WI – Whether you’ve lived in the Wausau area your whole life, recently moved here from another state, or relocated from across the globe, you’re invited to attend Wausau Area Welcoming Week! Running from September 13 - 22, this series of events aims to foster connections within the community and strengthen the sense of belonging among all residents. A sense of belonging is not just important for mental well-being, but for physical health too, and a strong, healthy community benefits everyone!

THE STRING PROJECT Artist Reception
Date: September 13, 6–8 PM
Location: Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art
This free reception offers the chance to meet Chelsea Nix and Mariano Cortez, the artists behind the award-winning photography exhibition, THE STRING PROJECT. During the event, Wausau’s Poet Laureate, Tiffany Rodriguez-Lee, will present a special Welcoming Week-themed poem.

Wausau Area Welcoming Week Kick Off Fair
Date: September 14, 10 AM–3 PM
Location: The Grand Theater
Join us for a free resource fair, selfie station, activities, cookies, video screening, and more! At 1:30 PM, artists from THE STRING PROJECT will give a lecture in the theater. Also, make sure to explore the outdoor exhibition of THE STRING PROJECT at the 400 Block while you're downtown!
